Acacia Vineyard Pinot Noir Carneros 07

After the grapes were harvested by hand from our estate vineyards and the vineyards of two of our growers, they were de-stemmed and cold soaked for a few days. After about 3 weeks in fermentation tanks, the wine was pressed and transferred to oak barrels where they were aged for 7 months. Consequently, this 2007 Carneros Pinot Noir is rife with ripe plum, raspberry and blackberry aromas. A perfume of roses adds delicate flower nuances while some oak influence leaves notes of nuttiness. The tart acidity on the palate nicely balances out the medium body and fine tannins, and leaves the mouth with a bright raspberry flourish of a finish.

Notable on the Acacia estate was our lack of irrigation. Following two seasons of low rainfall, our reservoirs were dry, and we did not irrigate our vines during the growing season. Our wines show great concentration and character, and fortunately, winter brought heavy rain.
