Varietal Pinot Noir
Region Carneros
Winemaker Matthew Glynn

93+ Points - The Wine Advocate

“The 2014 Pinot Noir Lone Tree Barrel Select is just that – a choice of the best barrels by the winemaker from this complex site for Pinot. Concentrated and slightly more restrained aromatically than its siblings, the wine is deep, rich and promising, with blackberry, raspberry and dark cherry fruits, spice, forest floor and underbrush. It is a beauty of full body and symmetry that should drink well for 10 or more years.”

Dry, early and shaking is how 2014 will be remembered in Napa Valley, yet it had a silver lining with small, concentrated berries and high quality. February’s rains brought the year’s sparse rainfall up from low to adequate, and helped to relieve three years of drought conditions. Warm temperatures promoted early budbreak in spring and accelerated grape maturation. Just as harvest began, a dramatic 6.0 earthquake shook Napa Valley awake on August 24. We finished the compact, plentiful harvest by mid-October with “ripened to perfection” grapes.
